"Striving to Achieve Excellence In Community Service" 

Women of BECA Inc.  started in 2003 by four women who traveled together and developed a sisterhood. They decided to develop an organization to give back to the community by the way of offering scholarships to deserving students that are pursing a career in the specified career paths of the founders – Beverly-Journalism, Edna – Criminal Justice, Connie – Journalism, and Angela- Nursing.

BECA, Inc. partners as volunteers in community by providing assistance to several local organizations. We also award annual scholarships to high school students through the BECA, Inc. Edna R. Anthony Memorial Scholarship.

Edna Rose Archie Anthony

November 19, 1958- January 29, 2006

Edna Rose Archie Anthony was one of the founding members of BECA, Inc. where she served as Vice President and Chaplain. Edna proudly embraced the concept of BECA, Inc., and worked diligently to help broaden and strengthen the organizations mission, "Striving to Achieve Excellence in Community Service."

As a tribute to Edna, the Women of BECA, Inc. have proudly renamed their annual scholarship in her memory. The tribute will serve as a beacon of hope and a constant reminder of her presence in the lives of the Women of BECA, Inc., and the lives of those she touched. The scholarship is known as: 

"The BECA, Inc. Edna R. Anthony Memorial Scholarship"

Edna was an active member of Little Rock A.M.E. Zion Church and Masterpiece Christian Center. She graduated from North Mecklenburg High School in Huntersville, NC. She later attended North Caroline A&T State University and Central Piedmont Community College. Edna's professional accomplishments include service as a Charlotte Mecklenburg Police officer and an inspector with the City of Charlotte. She was employed by Allstate Insurance at the time of her death. 

She was the daughter of the late Mary Lewis Archie and the Late Robert Archie Sr. She was the proud mother of three daughters, Colinda, Erika, and Treva.
